About the Foundation

The Royal Ulster Constabulary George Cross Foundation was established for the purpose of "marking the sacrifice and honouring the achievements of the Royal Ulster Constabulary".

Memorial Garden

The Royal Ulster Constabulary GC Garden provides a major tribute to policing in Ireland. It marks the service and sacrifice of RUC officers and offers a unique experience unparalleled anywhere in the world.


To mark the foundation of the Royal Ulster Constabulary on 1st June 1922 the Trustees of the Foundation have declared the first Sunday in June each year to be “Royal Ulster Constabulary GC Day”.

Policing Museum

Approval was gained on 4th August 2014 of an outline business case for a new police museum adjacent to the RUC Memorial Garden at Brooklyn.

The Patron

HRH The  Prince of Wales has been the Patron of the Foundation since April 2002 and  continues to take a close interest in its activities.
